Susan has been actively exhibiting work in the United States and Canada for the past thirteen years in juried shows and by invitation. Jurors who have selected her work for exhibition include curators from prominent American museums and institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsonian Institution, Rochester Institute of Technology, California State University at Long Beach, the UC Berkeley Art Museum, the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the San Francisco Museum of Craft and Design, the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. In 2022 she was awarded a residency at the 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica, California.

Susan grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. One of her favorite childhood activities was creating books that included spines, inside linings, and checkout pockets with library cards and imitation library seals. Her attention to detail continues to this day. At age 10 her mother enrolled her in a formal sewing class, and she has had a long-standing affinity for textiles ever since, something she also credits to the legacy of her grandfathers, both of whom were tailors.

Susan's fiber art practice explores the potential and limitations of materials to create a sense of spaciousness and light and is characterized by a strong sense of color exploration. In her work with natural plant dyes, she combines colors and changes hues through various processes akin to alchemy to develop a unique palette. Much of her work with dyed linen explores variations of the grid format.
